Solder Wick/Braid
What is solder wick?
Solder wick (also called desoldering braid) is a flat, braided copper wire coated with rosin flux used to remove excess solder from electronic components and circuit boards. When heated with a soldering iron and placed against unwanted solder, the braided copper draws up the molten solder through capillary action, effectively cleaning the joint or pad. It's an essential tool for desoldering components, fixing solder bridges, and cleaning up messy solder joints during electronics repair and rework.
