Activated Carbon

What is activated carbon?

Activated carbon is a highly porous form of carbon used in water filtration systems and air purification devices for camping and backpacking. In outdoor recreation, it's most commonly found in portable water filters and purifiers, where it removes chlorine, bad tastes, odors, and some chemical contaminants from water sources. The carbon's microscopic pores trap impurities as water passes through, making it an essential component in many lightweight water treatment systems used by hikers and campers.
