Alcohol Stove

What is an alcohol stove?

An alcohol stove is a lightweight, simple cooking device that burns denatured alcohol or ethanol as fuel for heating food and boiling water while camping or backpacking. These stoves are popular among ultralight hikers because they have no moving parts, are extremely reliable, and weigh significantly less than pressurized gas stoves. Alcohol stoves can be purchased commercially or easily made from aluminum cans, making them an economical choice, though they burn less efficiently than other stove types and perform poorly in cold or windy conditions.
