Col
What is a col?
A col is a low point or saddle along a mountain ridge between two peaks or high points. In hiking and mountaineering, cols often serve as natural passes that provide the easiest route through mountain ranges, making them popular crossing points for trails and climbing routes. Hikers frequently use cols as strategic rest stops, campsites, or navigation landmarks, as they typically offer protection from wind and provide clear views of the surrounding terrain.
