Leave No Trace

What is Leave No Trace?

Leave No Trace is a set of seven outdoor ethics principles designed to promote responsible outdoor recreation and minimize human impact on natural environments. The principles guide campers, hikers, and backpackers on how to enjoy wilderness areas while preserving them for future generations through practices like proper waste disposal, campfire safety, wildlife protection, and respecting other visitors. LNT emphasizes planning ahead, traveling on durable surfaces, disposing of waste properly, leaving natural and cultural artifacts undisturbed, minimizing campfire impacts, respecting wildlife, and being considerate of other visitors. Following these guidelines helps protect fragile ecosystems and maintains the pristine quality of outdoor recreation areas.
