Micron Rating

A micron rating is a measurement used to indicate the filtration capability of water filters and purification systems, expressed in microns (micrometers). It tells you the size of the smallest particles that the filter can effectively remove from water sources encountered while camping or backpacking. Lower micron ratings indicate finer filtration - for example, a 0.1 micron filter removes smaller contaminants than a 1.0 micron filter, making it more effective against bacteria and protozoa commonly found in wilderness water sources.
