Nero Day
What is a Nero Day?
A Nero Day is a hiking day where you cover very few miles, typically less than 10 miles, often used by long-distance hikers to rest while still making some forward progress. The term comes from the phrase 'Nearly Zero' miles, as hikers take it easy to recover from fatigue, resupply in town, or wait out bad weather. Nero days are commonly used on long trails like the Appalachian Trail or Pacific Crest Trail as a strategy to prevent burnout and maintain physical and mental health during extended backpacking trips.
