Saddle
What is a saddle?
A saddle is a low point or depression along a mountain ridge that connects two higher peaks or elevations, creating a natural pass between them. In hiking and backpacking, saddles often serve as strategic locations for trail routes, campsites, or rest stops because they typically offer protection from wind and provide easier passage through mountainous terrain. They are frequently used as navigation landmarks and can offer scenic views of the surrounding valleys and peaks from both sides of the ridge.
