Silnylon

Silnylon is a lightweight, waterproof fabric made from ripstop nylon that has been impregnated with silicone on both sides. It is commonly used in ultralight backpacking gear such as tent flies, tarps, and stuff sacks due to its excellent strength-to-weight ratio and water resistance. The silicone coating makes the fabric slippery and stretchy when wet, requiring special seam-sealing techniques, but provides superior durability and packability for weight-conscious hikers.
