Zero Day

What is a Zero Day?

A Zero Day is a rest day during a multi-day hiking or backpacking trip where hikers cover zero miles of trail. It's typically spent at a campground, town, or resupply point to rest, resupply gear and food, do laundry, or recover from fatigue or minor injuries. Zero Days are essential for physical and mental recovery on long-distance hikes like the Appalachian Trail or Pacific Crest Trail, helping hikers maintain their health and motivation throughout their journey.
