Dust filter

pc

A component used to prevent dust particles from entering a PC enclosure.

expanded

Dust filters are designed to capture and prevent particulate contaminants from entering the internal components of a PC, thereby reducing overheating and increasing the longevity of the components. They are typically made from fine mesh materials and are placed over air intake points like vents or fans to ensure that only air passes through while dust is trapped and can be removed through routine maintenance.

examples

A magnetic dust filter with a mesh size of 100 microns used on a 120-mm fan intake.

Typically used in PC cases to cover fan openings, preventing dust entry while allowing airflow.

A non-magnetic dust filter fitted onto a bottom intake vent of a desktop chassis with a 150-mm x 200-mm dimension.

Commonly utilized in gaming PC cases to ensure efficient air intake free of dust, protecting the GPU and power supply units.
