Baud Rate

What is a baud rate?

Baud rate is the number of signal changes or symbols transmitted per second in a communication channel. In digital communications, it often corresponds to bits per second (bps) when each signal change represents one bit, though this can vary depending on the encoding scheme. Baud rate is commonly used to specify the speed of serial communication interfaces like UART, RS-232, and other data transmission protocols. Higher baud rates allow for faster data transfer but may require more precise timing and better signal quality.
