Flyback Diode
What is a flyback diode?
A flyback diode is a protective diode connected in parallel with an inductive load (like a relay, motor, or solenoid) to suppress voltage spikes when the current is switched off. When current through an inductor is suddenly interrupted, it generates a high voltage spike that can damage nearby components. The flyback diode provides a safe path for this current to flow, clamping the voltage and protecting the circuit from damage.
