Gain

What is gain?

Gain is the ratio of output signal amplitude to input signal amplitude in an electronic circuit or system, typically expressed as a multiplier or in decibels (dB). It represents how much a circuit amplifies or attenuates a signal, with values greater than 1 indicating amplification and values less than 1 indicating attenuation. Gain is a fundamental parameter in amplifiers, filters, and signal processing circuits, determining how much stronger or weaker the output signal will be compared to the input.
