Hall Effect Sensor

What is a Hall Effect sensor?

A Hall Effect sensor is a transducer that detects the presence and strength of magnetic fields by measuring the voltage difference created when current flows through a conductor in a magnetic field. When a magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the current flow, it causes charge carriers to deflect to one side, creating a measurable voltage called the Hall voltage. These sensors are commonly used for position sensing, speed detection, current measurement, and proximity switching in applications like automotive systems, robotics, and brushless motor control.
