What is a HAT?
A HAT (Hardware Attached on Top) is a standardized add-on board designed specifically for Raspberry Pi single-board computers. It connects directly to the Pi's 40-pin GPIO header and includes an EEPROM chip that allows the Pi to automatically identify and configure the attached hardware. HATs follow strict mechanical and electrical specifications, ensuring proper fit and functionality while extending the Pi's capabilities with features like sensors, displays, motor controllers, or communication modules.
