Maximum Power Point Tracking
What is Maximum Power Point Tracking?
Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) is a control algorithm used in solar charge controllers and inverters to extract the maximum available power from photovoltaic panels. It continuously monitors and adjusts the electrical operating point of solar panels as conditions change due to varying sunlight, temperature, and shading. MPPT controllers can increase energy harvest by 15-30% compared to basic PWM controllers by dynamically finding the optimal voltage and current combination where the panel produces peak power.
