Open Circuit
What is an open circuit?
An open circuit is an electrical circuit that has a break or gap in the conductive path, preventing current from flowing through it. This can occur intentionally through switches, disconnected wires, or blown fuses, or unintentionally due to broken components or loose connections. In an open circuit, the current flow is zero, and the full source voltage appears across the open (break) in the circuit. Open circuits are commonly used for control purposes, such as turning devices on and off with switches.
