Package Type
What is a package type?
A package type is the physical form factor and housing style of an electronic component, such as an integrated circuit, resistor, or capacitor. It defines the component's size, shape, pin arrangement, mounting method (surface-mount or through-hole), and thermal characteristics. Common package types include DIP (Dual In-line Package), QFP (Quad Flat Package), BGA (Ball Grid Array), and SOT (Small Outline Transistor). The package type determines PCB layout requirements, soldering methods, and overall circuit board design considerations.
