Pad

What is a pad?

A pad is a designated copper area on a printed circuit board (PCB) where electronic components are soldered or connected. Pads provide electrical contact points and mechanical mounting surfaces for components like resistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, and connectors. They come in various shapes and sizes depending on the component type, with through-hole pads having holes for component leads and surface-mount pads being flat areas for SMD components.
