Proximity Sensor

What is a proximity sensor?

A proximity sensor is an electronic device that detects the presence or absence of nearby objects without physical contact. It works by emitting electromagnetic fields, light, or sound waves and measuring changes in the return signal or field disturbance caused by objects entering its detection range. Common types include inductive sensors for metal detection, capacitive sensors for various materials, ultrasonic sensors using sound waves, and infrared sensors using light, making them ideal for automation, security systems, and touch-free interfaces.
