Solenoid

What is a solenoid?

A solenoid is an electromagnetic coil of wire that creates a magnetic field when current flows through it, typically used to produce linear mechanical motion. When energized, it can push or pull a metal plunger or armature to actuate switches, valves, locks, or other mechanical devices. Solenoids are commonly found in door locks, automotive starters, irrigation valves, and relay switches where electrical signals need to control physical movement.
