Strain Gauge

What is a strain gauge?

A strain gauge is a precision sensor that measures mechanical deformation or strain in materials by detecting changes in electrical resistance. When the gauge is bonded to a surface and the material undergoes stress or deformation, the gauge's resistance changes proportionally to the applied strain. These devices are commonly used in load cells, pressure sensors, and structural health monitoring systems to convert mechanical forces into measurable electrical signals.
