Thermal Resistance
What is thermal resistance?
Thermal resistance is a measure of how much a material or component opposes the flow of heat through it, expressed in degrees Celsius per watt (°C/W). It quantifies the temperature difference that will be established across a thermal barrier when heat flows through it at a given rate. Lower thermal resistance indicates better heat conduction, while higher values mean the material acts as a thermal insulator. This parameter is critical in electronics for designing heat sinks, selecting thermal interface materials, and managing component temperatures.
