W

What is a W?

W is the symbol for watt, the standard unit of electrical power in the International System of Units (SI). It measures the rate at which electrical energy is consumed or generated by a device, calculated as voltage multiplied by current (P = V × I). One watt equals one joule of energy per second, and it's commonly used to rate the power consumption of electronic components, light bulbs, motors, and other electrical devices.
