Extreme Memory Profile (XMP)

pc

XMP is an Intel-developed specification for overclocking DDR3/DDR4/DDR5 memory modules.

expanded

XMP allows users to configure memory settings to operate above industry-standard specifications, by enabling higher performance through pre-configured, validated profiles for RAM modules. It is integrated into a system's BIOS/UEFI, providing a simplified method to apply overclocking settings for memory, optimizing performance in compatible systems.

examples

Enabling XMP on a system with Intel Core i9-12900K and Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3200 memory.

Commonly used in gaming or high-performance computing systems where enhanced memory speed can improve application performance.

Using XMP with an MSI MAG Z690 Tomahawk motherboard and G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB DDR5-6000 memory.

Utilized in workstation setups where memory bandwidth is a critical component of overall system performance.
